A Double Deep Pallet Racking System stores pallets two positions deep instead of one, reducing the number of forklift aisles required within the same warehouse area. It is suitable for facilities that need more pallet positions than selective racking can provide but still require faster access than drive-in or other deep-lane systems.
Unistar configures the rack structure around the pallet dimensions, loaded pallet height, unit load, warehouse clear height and deep-reach forklift specifications. In a suitable layout, double deep racking can increase storage capacity by approximately 50% compared with conventional selective pallet racking.
How Double Deep Racking Works
Two pallet rows are positioned back-to-back on each side of the aisle.
The front pallet is accessed directly from the operating aisle.
A deep-reach or pantograph forklift extends through the front position to handle the rear pallet.
The rear pallet cannot be retrieved until the front position is clear.
Beam levels remain adjustable for different loaded pallet heights.

Double Deep Pallet Racking System Design and Configuration
Load capacity per level: generally below 4 tonnes, subject to the beam span and load distribution.
Maximum bay load: up to 30 tonnes with the appropriate upright profile and structural design.
Common configuration: two or three pallets per beam level.
Rack height: determined by warehouse clear height and forklift lifting capacity.
Frame and beam profiles: selected according to pallet load, bay width and level spacing.
Standard color option: RAL5015 blue frames with RAL2004 orange beams.
Safety accessories: upright protectors, pallet support bars, row spacers and back stoppers can be added where required.
